[/b]f you are completely unsure about races in the Soul Eater world or whether a certain role is even up then you've come to the right place. This thread is all about explaining the races here on IGB and the Soul Eater universe. It will also provide a list of open or taken roles among the races. This thread is a very important place and should have a skim through before you begin to roleplay.

Shinigami-sama

S

[/b]hinigami-sama, in short, is the infamous God of Death in physical form. In the world of Soul Eater, he has been placed in charge of keeping the balance in the world. He used to be rather fierce looking once upon a time but has traded in his mask, literally, for a less frightening one. Shortly after his role become that of being the Principal, as one would probably call it, at Shibushen, which is a school that he brought into existence. This establishment was brought about to train Meisters and Weapons to assist Shinigami-sama in keeping the balance of the world. Although it doesn't seem the case when someone is looking at him or near him, Shinigami-sama is quite easily the strongest being to exist among the earth and finds no trouble dealing with lesser Kishin and Witches although he seems to rarely fight due to the devotion that he has towards his cause.

Weapons

W

[/b]eapons are individuals that are genetically special. They are capable of altering their body structure into the shape of a weapon. While they are transformed though they are completely immobile and require the help of a Meister. Weapons are usually paired up with a Meister of their choice to be their partner and they are used to help put their weapon forms to great use. In select, very rare, cases, a Weapon requires no use of a Meister while in their weapon form. The use of one would either be proven ineffective or too difficult for a Meister to wield. In these same cases, it is possible for the Weapon to work on their own. In any case, there are three categories that a Weapon could fit into.[/size]

Student Weapons

S[/b]tudent Weapons can generally be called the new kids on the block. They are all currently attending Shibushen and all may or may have not already found a Meister partner. With their partner they learn how to do a proper Soul Resonance and various other abilities needed to be successful. While a student, a Weapon can learn how to properly control their transformation and are under the careful eye of Shinigami-sama as well as the Death Scythes and Promeisters. It is here at the school where they team up with their partner and eradicate the Kishin in hopes to become a Death Scythe by obtaining 99 Kishin Egg souls and 1 Witch's Soul. However, if a sway of insanity were to occur then a Weapon could possible fall to that of a Dark Weapon.[/size]

Death Weapons

D[/b]eath Weapons are more commonly known as Death Scythes and are the best of the best. They are Weapons that have consumed 100 souls, 99 Kishin Egg Souls and 1 Witch Soul, and have learned how to control the various abilities of said souls. Death Scythes are able to alter their weapon form in ways a Weapon couldn't possibly dream of and can harness the magic of the Witch's soul that they consumed making them that much more deadly. They also have the honor of being considered a weapon to the great God of Death, himself, Shinigami-sama but most if not all of them have their on Promeister by their side. As of right now there are currently only 9 Death Scythes that exist on the earth and every single one is assigned to a section of the world where they are to maintain order if it ensues.

Dark Weapons

D[/b]ark Weapons are Weapons that have strayed from their paths in search of more power as a result making them Kishin Eggs in weapon form. Dark Weapons lack a partner, unless their Meister followed them, and instead rely on their insanity to corrupt someone into wielding them for a short period of time. Dark Weapons, much like Death Scythes, have excellent control over their transformation abilities but they lack the stability and power of a fully developed Death Weapon. The price to pay for losing sight of your goal of becoming a Death Scythe in the first place and all that's left is insanity.[/size][/font][/center]

Meisters

M

[/b]eisters are the human companions of Weapons when in a fight. They are just as important when fighting a Kishin or a Witch as the Weapon as they wield them. Meisters act as the sole fighting body of the two-man squad when they are wielding their Weapon partner with precision in any combat situation. Although this isn't very common it seems that even if a Meister has died and was brought back they can still be one even as a zombie. In any case, there are two categories that a Meister could fit in.[/size]

Student Meisters

S[/b]tudent Meisters can, in a way, be considered greenhorns of sorts. They are still attending school at Shibushen under the watchful eye of Shinigami-sama, Death Scythes and the Promeisters. Even though they are not nearly as experience as the Promeisters, they are sent on missions to eradicate the Kishin and occasionally Witches along with their Weapon partner. They under go almost the same training as the Student Weapons at Shibushen to become stronger. It can be said that all Student Meisters have one goal in common and that's to help their partner become a Death Scythe.[/size]

Professional Meisters

P[/b]rofessional Meisters, Promeisters for short as they are called, are collection of individuals that have graduated from Shibushen. Most of them have received top scores and were allowed to continue at the school as professors to teach the younger generations. Their list of tasks though is a lot bigger than this. It is up to the Promeisters to deal with the Kishin and Witches that are out of the students league before they stumble upon more power. Dealing with these nuisance are just the being of other tasks that they perform as they also see to the other establishments that Shinigami-sama has throughout the world. They also have the honor of working rather closely with the Death Scythes unless they have their on Weapon partner to continue working with. Some Promeisters may even been the ones that created a Death Scythe and just keep working with them even after they had became one.[/size][/font][/center]

Witches

W

[/b]itches are individuals that have the ability to alter the world with their magic, which is an advanced use of Soul Wavelength. Each and every Witch is different from one another, which makes them all unique. They all have their own animal familiar or avatar that they can channel their animal themed magic through. Most Witches hold an 'evil' standing on the earth while also retaining their sanity. This idea coming from the fact that it is not the sway of insanity that effects them but the sway of magic.

T[/b]he sway of magic happens to be the very thing that draws Witches together into larger groups known as Covens. The Covens usually bring the Witch Queen to power at these times but the means are not certain to anyone outside. It is through the sway of magic that a Witch may seek to gain knowledge of and power over their current environment. Witches, however, are not just limited to the female race though as the term 'Witch' is to describe the magic using community as a whole.[/size]

Witch Queen

Witch Queen is the title that is given to the oldest and strongest Witch out of all the current coven of Witches. The Witch Queen alone has enough power to trade equal blows with Shinigami-sama and a fully matured Kishin should such a battle ever occur. This Witch acts as one part of the balance of souls alongside Shinigami-sama and the strongest of Kishin.

K

[/b]ishin, in simple terms, are the things that go bump in the night. When humans, including Meisters, fall to the sway of insanity and their souls begin to become warped. This process is a slow one and it ends in having ones soul warped, twisted, and contorted into that of pure insanity. These are the very beings that Student Meisters as well as their Weapons and Promeisters fight against for Shinigami-sama. If they were allowed to exist then insanity would truly run free. There are three categories that a Kishin could be placed into.[/size]

Kishin Egg

Kishin Egg is the lowest level of a Kishin that there is and is also what becomes of a human when first taken into the sway of insanity. While in this first stage of development, the potential Kishin obtains a great influx of strength, speed, agility, and stamina when compared to a normal individual. During this particular time, the individual's body may start to twist and contort with their Soul Wavelength and in most cases creating a monstrous appearance. It seems that while he or she is in this phase that it is at its most volatile state and is constantly being attacked by insanity wavelength that their body readily absorb it without counter measures.

Kishin Larva

Kishin Larva is the second state of the Kishin development. This second stage occurs when when the constant absorption of the insanity wavelength becomes much to much to bare for the Kishin Egg. During this time, true madness descends upon the Kishin Egg although if the egg survives it shall awaken much stronger. Once it awakens as a Kishin Larva it gets that much closer to becoming a forbearer of insanity. In the Kishin Larve stage, the potential Kishin starts to develop his or her own insanity wavelength but still lacks any control over it, which requires a strong push from an outside source to complete the evolution. Even without further evolution, a Kishin Larva can easily match with a Death Scythe or even a Dark Weapon. Currently only 9 individuals are known to have survived such a transformation.

True Kishin

True Kishin are those individuals that have become the fore bearers of Insanity. Once they are fully evolved they gain full control over his or her insanity wavelength and become a force that influences the making of Kishin Eggs and Kishin Larva. For this very reason they are hunted down by Shinigami-sama and are sought after by Witches. This level of evolution is currently locked until further notice.
